Whether you’re into biking over the George Washington Bridge or snowshoeing in the Adirondacks, you can pick up the equipment you need, right here in New York City. With all of the high fashion stores around, you’d be surprised to find out how much outdoors shopping there is too. Below is a list of stores to find all the gear you need for your next trip:

 

Tent and Trails

Tent and Trails specialize in backpacking equipment, climbing gear, and you guessed it, tents. With a wide variety of shoes, clothing, food, books/maps, and sleeping bags, the store is packed to the brim with gear, meaning though it might take a while to look, you'll probably find the gear you need. Make sure to chat with some of the Nepalese employees, many of whom have done serious mountaineering expeditions and have great stories to share. 


Paragon

Paragon Sports, in NYC since 1908, is the Largest Sports Specialty Store that is a one-stop shop for all things sports and fitness.  Here you will find multiple floors of the best brands for all sports ranging from running and yoga to camping and skiing.  The Annual Warehouse Sale in September is a great way to score some major deals.  This is definitely a store you want to explore!


Gear to Go Outfitters

Gear to Go Outfitters is different from the rest, as they specialize in renting equipment, not just selling. Not only can you rent or buy backpacking, snowshoeing, and hiking equipment here, but Gear to Go Outfitters also offers classes and excursions so you can put your equipment to use.


Leisure Pro

Leisure Pro is your go-to spot if you’re looking for water sport equipment. They specialize in scuba gear, but offer equipment for swimming, kayaking and canoeing, as well as gear for underwater photography.


Panda Sport

Panda Sport specializes in winter sports specifically. They sell everything from skis and snowboards, to all of the apparel and accessories you need for your next adventure. Panda Sport also has a rental program for skiing and snowboarding equipment. They have special packages that include all the equipment you need to hit the slopes.


JackRabbit
