Intro to Parkour by the Movement Creative

  • East River Amphitheater Cherry Street and FDR Drive New York, NY (map)

Parkour can be seen as natural, playful human movement in the urban environment. Practitioners acknowledge that challenges come in all shapes and sizes, both mental and physical, and through training develop skills that will allow them to overcome whatever obstacle they may face. This class will teach you how to run, jump, climb, balance, and swing your way through your city!

Parkour is for everyone, regardless of shape, size, and fitness level. When practiced correctly and consistently, it not only is safe but teaches one how to assess risk, cope with uncertainty, and think creatively. Our practitioners are called Traceurs. Ages 16+.

The Movement Creative is a collective of movement instructors in the NYC region, specializing in a blend of Parkour, Natural Movement, Strength, and Conditioning, with looser focuses on dance, gymnastics, and martial arts. We aim to create positive change and momentum in the lives of children and adults through our mediums of movement. This class will be led by Jesse Danger, one of country's longest practitioners of Parkour, Caitlin Pontrella, a leader in the national women's Parkour community, and other members of the local community.
