Here are a few of our favorite NYC non-profits that are helping to strengthen the outdoors community here in NYC.
Adaptive Climbing Group
Now part of the Brooklyn Boulders Foundation - Adaptive Climbing is one of the most inspiring organizations in New York City creating access to disabled climbers both indoors and outdoors. Support them to bring access to climbing to people with disabilities.
Sierra Club Inspiring Outdoor Connections
This 100% volunteer run organization goes far beyond just providing outdoor adventures for under served youth in New York City and creates long term connections and appreciation of the outdoors for the next generation of urban outdoor enthusiasts. Support them to get more kids loving the outdoors.
The Greenbelt Conservancy
It's true when they say Staten Island is the greenest borough and one of the main reasons it has such amazing trails to hike, run and recreate on is the Greenbelt Conservancy.
As New Yorkers we're always surrounded by water and one organization in particular, Surfrider is busy trying to make sure that water stays safe. They test the water quality in the Rockaways, campaign to end plastic bags, and do myriad beach cleanups every summer. Support Surfrider.
The New York New Jersey Trail Conference
Those awesome maps to all your favorite trails, the most complete database for hiking in the area, and of course... the well maintained trails are all thanks to this local organization! Support more trails.
